Hey beloved!

Welcome back to this week’s 🌿 Rooted & Rising! If you’ve convinced yourself that staying up late is somehow “taking back your day”, watched your engagement tank while you’re actually doing your best work, or struggled to sit still for even 5 minutes without grabbing your phone - this one’s for you.

Today we’re diving into these themes:

  • Your body is your business (and you can’t afford to ignore it)

  • Consistency opens more doors than engagement ever could

  • Stillness before big moves: What God taught Moses at the Red Sea

Want to work directly with me? I help overwhelmed creators and founders finally show up for themselves and their businesses in the way they’ve always wanted. Creators who are tired of burning out because they haven’t found a system that works for them. Founders who know they should be posting more about their business, but feel like they have nothing to say or too much on their plate to share. I help you uncover a way to tell your story that does not lead to burnout or unnecessary pressure on yourself. Book time here and start showing up for you!

Before we go any further…

🥭 A Spiritual Snack🥭

"For all who have entered into God's rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. So let us do our best to enter that rest."

Hebrews 4:10-11 (NLT)

Where I Got Checked Last Week

Can we be so fr for a second? Cause I want to see if I’m the only one who’s been lying to myself.

I told myself that staying up until 2 AM was me “owning my day” - like I was somehow stealing back time by refusing to sleep. (Some know this as Revenge Bedtime Procrastination). In reality, I was sabotaging my entire week. When you’re dragging through Tuesday because you stayed up Sunday night because you had to watch the newest One Piece episode to “treat yo’self” - it’s not a treat, it’s self-sabotage.

Here’s what hit me like the BX12: Going to bed early IS the luxury. Waking up early to stretch or work out IS the treat. It’s not “boring” or “responsible” (in a buzzkill way)- it’s literally the chicest, most boujee thing I can do for myself. Taking care of my body isn’t restrictive, it’s radical respect for the temple that God gave us.

Then there’s the consistency piece. This week I was leading my first LinkedIn cohort, helping founders and creatives uncover their unique stories. We had breakthrough after breakthrough - people discovering that the stories they thought were “too basic” were actually their most profound victories. It was beautiful work and I’m so grateful to have witnessed their sparks return.

But while I was pouring into them, my own LinkedIn engagement was the lowest it’s been in months. And for a hot second, I had no choice but to clutch my pearls. “Am I doing something wrong? Should I change my strategy? Did the algorithm finally decide to humble me?”

What led me to un-clutch my pearls was remembering that consistency is what brought me the cohort in the first place. Not viral posts. Not perfect engagement. Just showing up. And I’m learning that being bold about my offers might not lead to wild engagement, but it DOES lead to revenue. That’s the trade-off I don’t see too many people talking about.

Finally - the one that really clocked me - I’m learning about the power of stillness. That’s the biggest difference between just being an entrepreneur and being one led by God. God demands stillness before big moves.

Think about it: Before Moses was instructed to lift his hands to part the Red Sea (Exodus 14:16), God told him to tell the Israelites (who were absolutely losing it, by the way) to be still. Not “hustle harder”. Not “figure it out.” Be. Still.

I’ve been implementing more moments of stillness throughout my day- before bed, when I first wake up, when I need to step away from screens. And it’s been life-changing.

With all that said, let’s dive into the deets…

Practical Strategies 🤏🏾

1. Your Body is Your Business (And You Can’t Afford to Ignore It)

As a founder and creator, your body is literally your most important business asset. Not your laptop. Not your following. YOUR BODY.

When you’re exhausted, your content suffers. When you’re burnt out, your client calls are flat. When you’re running on 4 hours of sleep and too much coffee, your decision-making is trash. You can have the best strategy in the world, but if your body is running on fumes, none of it matters.

For the longest time, I’d been treating sleep like it’s optional. As if staying up late to “finish just one more thing” was somehow productive. But here’s the truth: those extra hours at night were costing me entire days of peak performance.

A lot of these crazy working hours have to do with not realizing you’re your own boss. (Really, as a faith-based founder, God’s the Boss and He is a GOOD Boss). So much so that' He’s not asking you to burn yourself out. He’s actually inviting you into rhythms that honor the body He gave you.

When you worked in corporate, you had set hours. When the day ended, you clocked out (hopefully). But when you work for yourself, suddenly it’s the wild wild west and 10 PM feels like fair game for “one more email.”

The shift: Going to bed early isn’t boring, it’s one of the most powerful business decisions you can make. Waking up early to move your body isn’t a chore, it’s an investment in the only vessel you have to do this work.

Try this: Can you lock down your daily operations earlier this week? What would happen if you shut down at 4:30 PM instead of 5? Or 9 PM instead of midnight? Pick ONE day this week to implement an earlier shutdown time and notice how it affects the next day’s productivity.

Treat your body like the investment it is.

2. Consistency Opens More Doors Than Engagement Ever Could

This one stung because I lived it this week in real-time. My LinkedIn engagement was DOWN. Like, significantly down. And while I was noticing that, I was simultaneously teaching a cohort full of founders and creatives who found me BECAUSE of my consistency on LinkedIn.

What I’m learning? Consistency isn’t about going viral or one-off moments. It’s about building trust over time. The algorithm might not reward you every day, but the right people are always watching.

The founders in my cohort didn’t sign up because of my best-performing post. They signed up because they saw me show up week after week, sharing real insights, being vulnerable (and sometimes silly) about my journey, and proving that I actually do the work I talk about.

Another learning that humbled me? Being bold about my offers doesn’t always lead to massive engagement, but it DOES lead to revenue. When I post about my services directly, the likes might be lower than my “Happy Friday y’all!” content. But the DMs? The discovery calls? The contracts signed? Those come from the bold- here’s the problem I solve - posts.

That’s the trade-off between content that gets engagement and content that gets clients. Both matter, but you need to know the difference.

The shift: Stop measuring success by engagement alone. Start measuring it by the doors that open because you kept showing up. That cohort, that client, that collaboration - those came from consistency, not "a viral moment”.

Try this: Create a fun way to track your consistency this week. Maybe it’s moving a paperclip from one side of your desk to the other every time you post. Maybe it’s checking off days on a calendar. At the end of the week, look at the right side of your desk (or your filled calendar) and see your progress in real time. Celebrate showing up, not just the engagement metrics.

3. Stillness Before Big Moves: What God Taught Moses At the Red Sea

Exodus 14:13-14 is one of my favorite passages right now: “And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day…The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”

Picture the scene: The Israelites are backed up against the Red Sea with Pharaoh’s army charging toward them. They’re crashing out, blaming Moses, probably having full-blown panic attacks. And what does God say? “Be still.”

Not “lock in.” Not “Find a weapon.” Not “come up with a backup plan.” Be. Still.

This is truly the difference between running a business and running a God-led business. God demands stillness before big moves. He wants you to stop, breathe, (maybe even do some butterfly taps), and remember who’s actually in control before He parts the waters.

I’ve been implementing moments of stillness throughout my day, and it’s been changing everything. Before bed. When I first wake up. When I feel myself getting overwhelmed. Instead of reaching for my phone or diving into the next task, I pause. I sit. I breathe. I pray.

The wildest part? The stillness doesn’t slow me down (as I irrationally thought it would) - it makes me more effective. Because when I move from a place of rest instead of panic, my decisions are clearer. My content is stronger. My client calls are more present.

The shift: Stillness is not a waste of time. It’s where God prepares you for what’s next. Before He parts your Red Sea, He’s going to ask you to be still.

Try this: At the end of your day, before bed, set a timer for 10 minutes and see if you can truly sit still for that time. No phone. Try your best to keep your mind on a Scripture or give God thanks for the day. Whenever thoughts come in that want to stress you out, imagine yourself handing them over to God in surrender. Start with 10 minutes. Work your way up.

Let stillness become your secret weapon.

Monday Move 💃🏾

Pop on this playlist of music that got me through last week, take a moment to stretch, and leave with a reminder for the week ahead

Your playlist:

Your at- desk stretch routine:

* Remember to keep breathing deeply throughout!

Neck Rolls (1 minute)

  • Slowly roll your head in a circle - right, back, left, forward. Switch directions halfway through. Release all the tension from staring at screens and worrying about engagement metrics.

Shoulder Blade Squeeze (30 seconds)

  • Sit tall, pull your shoulder blades together like you're trying to hold a pencil between them. Hold for 5 seconds, release. Repeat 6 times. This one's for all the hours hunched over your laptop.

Seated Cat-Cow (1 minute)

  • Sit at the edge of your chair with hands on knees. Inhale and arch your back, looking up. Exhale and round your spine, tucking your chin. Flow between these movements. Let your body remember it's allowed to move, not just produce.

Wrist Circles (30 seconds each direction)

  • Extend your arms forward. Make gentle circles with your wrists - clockwise, then counterclockwise. This is for all the content you've been creating. Your hands deserve some love.

Standing Forward Fold (1 minute)

  • Stand with feet hip-width apart. Slowly fold forward, letting your arms dangle toward the floor. Bend your knees as much as you need. Let gravity do the work. This is what surrender feels like - releasing control and trusting you'll be held.

Stillness Practice (2 minutes)

  • Sit back down. Close your eyes. Place one hand on your heart, one on your belly. Just breathe. When your mind starts racing about what's next on your to-do list, gently bring it back to your breath. Practice being still.

Your Reminder: Your body is your business - treat it like the investment it is. Consistency builds trust even when engagement is low. And stillness before big moves isn't optional - it's where God does His best work.

“You know what just dawned on me?” 💭

God is inviting us into the 7th day.

Hebrews 4:10 says, "For all who have entered into God's rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world."

This hit me differently this week. God didn't rest on the 7th day because He was tired - He's God, He doesn't get tired. He rested to ENJOY what He created. To look at it and call it good. To be present with it.

And He's inviting us to do the same.

When we refuse to rest, we're essentially saying, "I don't trust that what You've created is enough. I need to keep adding more." But when we enter into that 7th day rest with Him, we're saying, "I trust that You've already done the work. Now I'm going to be still and admire the good You've made."

Think about that. On the 7th day, after 6 days of creating, God wants us to meet Him there and admire the good He's already made for us. Not hustle for it. Not earn it. Just receive it and rest in it.

That's why stillness is so powerful. It's not just about taking a break - it's about entering into God's rhythm. It's about trusting that He's already created everything you need, and your job is to steward it well, not create it from scratch through sheer hustle.

So this week, what if you met God on the 7th day? What if you looked at what He's already built in your life and business and called it GOOD? What if you rested not because you earned it, but because He's inviting you into His rhythm?
