Hey beloved!
I’m so grateful to share this week’s 🌿 Rooted & Rising with you! This newsletter is for creatives and founders who are practical, ambitious, and aren’t afraid of a little vulnerability if it’s going to support their growth. (If you were ever caught laughing at the wrong moment in church, this is the newsletter for you).
Each week, I’ll share real-time insights from my own journey as a founder and content creator through the lens of someone who thinks Jesus is the bees knees. The goal is to give you practical takeaways you can use immediately and encouragement for the road ahead.
Let’s dive into where I got GOT this week.
This week’s themes:
Strategy through observation
Self-discipline over feelings
Outreach as obedience, not option
But first…
🥭 A Spiritual Snack🥭
“We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.”

Can we talk about the entrepreneurial rollercoaster for a second?
You know the one. Monday hits and you’re feeling major main character energy. You’re at the center of your success story, like Luffy in the East Blue Arc- setting sail, ready to take on all the adventures of the week. You have vision board energy, clear priorities, you might’ve even meal prepped.
But by Wednesday?
You’re lying in bed questioning if you’re even cut out for this whole “business owner, founder life” thing.
Last week, I lived this exact cycle. I went from genuine Sunday excitement (rare for someone who usually gets the Sunday scaries) to a mid-week crash that had me sleeping in and wondering if I should just get a regular shmegular degular job.
But here’s what shifted everything: I realized the difference between surviving those emotional dips and actually thriving through them comes down to three fundamental changes and how I approach building my business. Not some eat, pray, love changes, but simple ones that bring it back to the basics.
If you’d like to watch my unfiltered week, you can do so here: https://youtu.be/lJiWjPNtEwo (I obvi hope you’ll ✨subscribe✨ too!)
Here are three shifts that changed everything for me:
Let’s Break It Down: Practical Strategies 🤏🏾
1. Strategy through observation: Your Foundation is in the Feedback
I used to think strategy was this cold, corporate thing that had nothing to do with my faith. But Holy Spirit showed me something different: having a clear strategy is actually the foundation for everything He’s called me to build. Clear strategy builds confidence.
For my first couple months, I was timid about reaching out to potential clients because I wasn’t clear about what I was offering. But over the last couple months, I finally got crystal clear: I help overwhelmed creators and founders to show up confidently online with content strategy, web design, branding and messaging, especially around launches. That foundation didn’t come from a business course, it came from months of trial and error. Serving existing clients, paying attention to where I added the most value, and most importantly, asking for feedback!
This observational approach isn’t just about clarity, it’s strategic. You’re using real market data (your client interactions) to make informed decisions about positioning, pricing, and priorities. You stop waiting for the perfect strategy and start observing what’s already working.
Try this: Write down exactly what you do in one clear sentence. I help X (demographic of people), do Y (result your clients can expect), using Z (your services/offerings). If you can’t, spend this week paying attention to what people consistently ask you for help with. That observation will give you confidence in your foundation!
2. Self-discipline over feelings: Faith isn’t a feeling
Here’s some tea that might burn your tongue: Your feelings about your business are not a reliable indicator of your calling or your competence.
I spent Tuesday of last week feeling like I wasn’t cut out for entrepreneurship. By Friday, I was energized and clear about my next moves. What changed? Not my circumstances. Not my skills. Just my emotional state.
I see emotions as notifications. They’re there to alert you of something that is coming up for you. The same way that some notifications are worth looking into and others can be tended to at another time, emotions are the same way. They’re something to observe and notice, not something that should dictate the course of your actions.
This is where self-discipline kicks in. The Bible says walk by faith, not by sight and definitely not by feelings. When you commit to showing up regardless of how you feel, you’re practicing the kind of faith that actually moves mountains (and businesses).
The most successful week I’ve had in months came after I decided to follow God’s plan even when I didn’t feel like it. I reached out when I felt scared. I created content even when I felt uninspired. I followed my systems when I felt chaotic and downright ashy. That’s what systems are for- to give you a guideline to follow when your emotions are doing their job to alert you.
Try this: Write down your non-negotiable business activities for this week. Commit to doing them regardless of how you feel. Keep it simple- no more than 4 things! BONUS: If you’d like to fold in feelings, write out how finishing each task will make you feel.
3. Outreach as obedience: Stop burying your talents
Let’s be so fr: You can build the most b-e-a-UTIFUL business in the world, but if nobody knows about it, you’re basically burying your talents in the backyard. (Bonus points if you read beautiful the Jim Carrey way).
I’ve been hiding behind “perfecting my messaging” for months when the real issue was fear. Fear of rejection. Fear of being seen as pushy. Fear of success, honestly and oddly enough.
But here’s what Holy Spirit revealed: When you have something valuable to offer and you’re not sharing it boldly, that’s not humility- it’s disobedience. God didn’t give you gifts to keep them hidden until you feel “ready enough.”
Sometimes you have to step back and honestly look at where you are now versus where you want to go. If there’s a gap, it’s worth asking—why would God give you all these gifts, all these ideas, and all this potential if not to use them?
There are people you’ve been called to help, but that connection can’t happen if you stay quiet. I kept thinking about Jesus’ parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30)- the servant who buried his talent because he was afraid. But what if fear is the only thing standing between you and the impact you’re meant to make? God wants you to succeed. He’s not your opp. He wants you to use your gifts to serve others and build something meaningful for yourself.
Try this: Write out the pros and cons of reaching out vs not . Once you’re done, find 3 people or brands that you could support with your services and reach out genuinely WITHOUT asking for something first.
Your Monday Move: 🤸🏾♀️
This week, we’re practicing “God first” in your business strategy. Before you dive into that overwhelming project, before you craft that outreach message, before you create that content— pause and invite God into the process.
What does that look like practically?
This week’s challenge: Start each work session with a 2-minute prayer asking Holy Spirit to direct your priorities. Write down the first thee things that come to mind and stick to them. Watch how this simple practice transforms both your productivity and your peace of mind!
Reminder: You’re not building this business alone. The same God who gave you the vision wants to guide you in the execution. But you have to show up, stay disciplined and do the work.
