Hey beloved!

Welcome back to this week’s 🌿 Rooted & Rising! If you’ve ever caught yourself rushing to the next goal without pausing to celebrate how far you’ve come, struggling with inconsistency even though you know what you need to do, OR confusing hustle with good stewardship of your time - this issue is for you.

Today we’re diving into these themes:

  • The power of gratitude and rejoicing as spiritual disciplines

  • The cost of inconsistency (& the power of accountability)

  • Stewardship starts with time, not hustle

Want to work directly with me? I help overwhelmed creators and founders turn sporadic posting into strategic visibility with content systems, messaging clarity, and accountability that actually move the needle. If you’re done with the planning spiral and ready to invest in showing up consistently (and seeing actual results from it), book time here and let’s get to work.

But first…

🥭 A Spiritual Snack🥭

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV)

Where I Got Checked Last Week

This week was life-changing for me. Not only was it Royal Authority’s launch event, but I executed my first paid brand partnership and signed a contract to work with a client I’d been eager to grow with. After coming home from Royal Authority’s event, I couldn’t help but fall to my knees and give God thanks (sounds just as dramatic as it felt in the moment)- suddenly all the Bible stories about men and women of God doing the same just made sense. There are some things that are so overwhelming that they drive you to tears.

When I think about how miraculous it is that Cee and I even met, or how I used to be so parched for information about brand partnerships and now I’m partnering with brands and contracted to work with someone who can teach me even more about them- I can’t help but rejoice.

There have been so many times throughout these past 7-8 months of full-time entrepreneurship that made me feel like a hamster on a wheel. Running into oblivion, waking up early, going to bed late, going to networking events, creating content, reaching out to people, budgeting, doing all the THINGS they tell you you’re supposed to - but still coming up short.

It’s only now that traction is starting to build that I can look back at those moments and not only thank God for being with me throughout, but also thank God that I STAYED consistent. If it weren’t for that consistency and showing up on days when I REALLY didn’t feel like it, I wouldn’t have been able to almost double my LinkedIn following, launch a community, or start a LinkedIn cohort to help founders and creatives do the same.

It’s becoming clearer and clearer that gratitude and rejoicing buffer inconsistency and lead to better stewardship. When you are grateful for where you are and truly rejoice over it and rest after you make it to another level - it not only drives you to keep going, but it makes you want to understand how to preserve your progress.

Stewardship is defined as the job of supervising or taking care of something. When you stop to enjoy the things you’ve accomplished and rejoice, it leads you to want to be a better supervisor of that those accomplishments and make room for more.

With all that said, let’s dive into the deets…

Let’s Break It Down: Practical Strategies 🤏🏾

1. The Power of Gratitude and Rejoicing as Spiritual Disciplines

One of my favorite things about the Bible is how simple some of the advice is. At first, the Bible’s simplicity used to irritate me (a recovering over-thinker)- like what do you mean “Be anxious about nothing”? That is VERY much easier said than done. Or even 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”

Again. So simple that it makes you think, this CANNOT be it? There has to be more than this - I mean already, “Always be joyful” sounds like something you’d find on a “refined” and painted piece of wood in the Home Decor section of a TJMaxx. It has intense “Eat.Pray.Love” energy.

It’s not until you really sit and think about it that you realize, it is that simple. What is the point of knowing your Savior Jesus intimately and having access to the Creator of the universe who loves you, cares about the details of your life, and sees you- only to live in misery? It makes no 👏🏾 sense 👏🏾. So yes, in the words of Paul: “always be joyful.” Never stop praying or communicating with God and be thankful in all circumstances.

As founders and creatives, so much of the work we do is contingent on being able to observe and have a clear perspective on that input. Gratitude and rejoicing are radical forms of observation that spark fresh growth and ideas when we allow ourselves to participate. Without those moments we rob ourselves of the opportunity to connect with God, celebrate how far we’ve come and set the table properly for what’s next.

Try this: Take a moment to document your story. Write out 5 things you are grateful for and 5 accomplishments you can rejoice about.

Bonus: Take a moment to sit with each one as you go and genuinely invite God into this moment to review with you.

2. The Cost of Inconsistency (& The Power of Accountability)

Inconsistency has been my kryptonite for years. It’s what caused me to delay starting my business, it’s what stopped me from showing up on LinkedIn, it’s what dried up my cashflow when I started entrepreneurship full-time, and it’s something that I square up to every. single. day.

You know what I’ve learned? Inconsistency steals your time. Every time you start and stop, you’re not just losing momentum - you’re wasting the most valuable resource you have. You’re redoing work you already started. You’re rebuilding trust with an audience that forgot you existed. You’re starting from scratch when you could’ve been compounding results.

For the longest time, I confused inconsistency with pivoting. Knowing when to pivot is actually a superpower - too many people stay stuck in fruitless situations out of fear of being “inconsistent” or a quitter. But here’s the difference: pivoting is strategic. Inconsistency causes stagnancy.

Usually, my inconsistency comes from overthinking the outcome so much that I either take no action or only sporadic action. And sporadic action? It’s wasting time with extra steps.

What’s helped me save time and see results? Accountability. Whether that’s posting about what I’m planning to do, connecting with fellow founders to build systems together, or working with clients who keep me sharp. Every time I help someone build their content strategy or messaging, I learn something that pushes me to the next level. Accountability doesn’t just keep you consistent, it accelerates your growth.

Try this: Find someone you trust and share one thing you’re committed to completing or taking into the new year. Meet weekly or check in asynchronously to stay on track. I have a LinkedIn cohort built specifically for this where I help founders and creatives finally see momentum- reply to this email if you’d like to learn more.

3. Stewardship Starts With Time, Not Hustle

The word “stewardship” always rubbed me the wrong way. It reminded me of some nerdy, snot-nosed dude in the back of class named Steward who waited until the last 4 minutes of class to alert the teacher that she had not collected the homework. It felt like a buzzkill- like it would rob me of all my creativity and freedom if I leaned into it.

As someone who used to be allergic to all forms of accountability, this one has been particularly tough. Accountability, discipline, stewardship, consistency - all these things that sound like a U.S. army tagline are absolutely VITAL to running a successful business. What I failed to understand then but clearly understand now is that stewardship does not subtract from the fullness of your creativity - it props them up. It allows your projects to not only be built but SUSTAINED.

What really tied this together was understanding this: stewardship is not just about money. It starts with time. In fact, time is the FIRST thing you’re entrusted to steward.

Think about it- money you have to go out and earn. You have to be in the right position at the right time with the right solution to the right problems. But time? We’re all born with it. We don’t have to do anything to earn it. The only thing we have to learn is HOW to steward it properly.

How you treat your time ends up being how you treat everything. If you have no schedule, you get robbed of time. If you break boundaries with your time once, they’ll break frequently. And when boundaries with something as precious as time (which you can never get back) are constantly broken, everything else breaks down too. Boundaries with what you eat, where you go, what you do, how often you do it, etc.

When you allow God into that place of stewardship, you’ll notice His plans for you are often kinder than the ones you’d come up with yourself. After the Royal Authority event, I was chatting with a few of the panelists, and one of them (s/o to Philip Delvecchio) said something so simple it stuck- God is such a good Boss. It made me think back to my to-do lists vs. Abba’s. His to-do lists include things that are good for me - taking walks, making meals, spending time with family. My lists? Dictator energy. I’m so hard on myself at times, and I’m finding that true stewardship begins not only with valuing time, but consistently surrendering that time to God.

Stewardship isn’t a buzzkill that’s going to rob you of creativity - it’s the foundation that protects and sustains everything you’re building.

Try this: Review- what is a boundary that you set with your time that you haven’t been honoring? What is something that God has been on you about that you’ve been brushing under the rug? Break it down to ONE action that you can take this week to implement that and stick to it?

Monday Move 💃🏾

Pop on this playlist, take a moment to stretch, and leave with a reminder for the week ahead

Your playlist:

Your at- desk stretch routine:

* Remember to keep breathing deeply throughout!

Shoulder Rolls (1 minute)

  • Roll your shoulders up, back, and down in slow circles. Reverse direction halfway through. Release the tension of hustling without celebrating. Let your body remember it's allowed to rest.

Wrist and Finger Stretch (30 secs per hand)

  • Extend one arm forward, palm up. Gently pull back on your fingers with your other hand. Flip palm down and repeat. Switch hands. This is for all the content you've been creating - give your hands some gratitude.

Seated Spinal Twist (30 secs per side)

  • Sit tall, place your right hand on the back of your chair, and gently twist your torso to the right. Breathe deeply. Switch sides. This opens up space in your body the same way gratitude opens up space in your mind.

Standing Forward Fold (1 minute)

  • Stand with feet hip-width apart. Slowly fold forward, letting your arms dangle. Bend your knees if needed. Let gravity do the work. Surrender feels like this - releasing control and trusting you'll be held.

Deep Breathing Reset (1 minute)

  • Stand or sit tall. Inhale deeply through your nose for 4 counts, hold for 4 counts, exhale through your mouth for 6 counts. Repeat 5 times. Let go of comparison. Let go of fear. Come back to YOUR voice.

Your Reminder: Gratitude and rejoicing aren’t just nice spiritual add-ons- they’re the fuel that keeps you consistent. Consistency isn’t perfection - it’s obedience. And stewardship isn’t hustle - it’s surrendering your time to the One who gave it to you in the first place.

“You know what just dawned on me?” 💭

Psalm 23:2 says, “He leads me beside still waters, He restores my soul.”

I used to read that and think it was just David cooking with the lyrics as per usual. But this week, something clicked: He LEADS me beside still waters. That word “leads” requires obedience on my part. I have to follow Him there. I have to choose to go to the still waters instead of making disobedience keep me in chaos.

Here’s what really got me: your soul cannot be restored or refreshed in a state of disobedience and restlessness. It doesn’t work that way.

When we avoid stillness - when we’re constantly moving, hustling, running to the next thing without pausing to rejoice or rest - we’re operating in disarray. Restlessness makes it nearly impossible for God to restore us.

We have to be intentional about finding moments of rest and stillness, or it’s going to be extremely difficult for us to stay afloat. Not just in business, but in life. Restoration does NOT happen in the hustle - it happens beside still waters. And getting there requires obedience.
